INVERSION OF UTERUS

 “ It is the turning inside out of the uterus”

“ It is one of rare but serious complication of third stage of labour

(1) Fist degree:- Depressed fundus rearches up to the internal or

(2) Second degree:- Fundus passes through cervix but lies inside vagines

(3) Third Degree:- Placenta is visible out side the vulva

Etiology:- (1) Spontaneous:- Atony

Pressure during coughing sneezing & bearing down effort

(2) Induced:-

                   Due to mismanagement of IIIrd stage of labour

Pulling the cord

Folty technique in manual removal

Complication:- Haemorrhage

Shock

Embolism

Infection

Clinical features:- Acute lower abdominal pain shock

Management:-

(1) Prophylaxis:- Proper third stage management

Present this complication

(2) Curative:-

Urgent manual replacement under gen. Anesthesia before goes in shock

IV Infusion

Blood transfusion

Push uterus inside vagina & packet with antiseptic & gauze

Antibiotics

(3) Prevention:-

Don’t try to expel placenta when uterus is relaxed

Manual removal should be done in proper manner

Pulling the card with fundal pressure should be avoided
